Centre Administrator
The Centre for Black Ministries and Leadership (CBML) has been established within the Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education since the Autumn of 2008. We seek to develop the ministries and leadership of Black and Asian Christians in the British churches through theological education and training. We work on a national basis both with groups of Christians and other providers of training and learning in the churches. We also deliver programmes of learning at The Queen’s Foundation. Job Description and Person Specification
We require a committed and enthusiastic person to come and share in implementing the vision of the Centre through the crucial role of Centre Administrator. We are looking to the successful candidate to take significant responsibility in shaping and developing the administrative functions of this new and exciting initiative.
Post Aim:
To carry out the day to day administrative function of CBML and assist in the successful organisation and running of a wide range of its activities.
Hours of Work
The post is for 12 hours a week and you will normally work Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays mornings although some flexibility is essential as is a willingness to work occasionally out of normal office hours to support special events.
Place of Work
The CBML Office on the campus of the Queen's Foundation, Somerset Road, Edgbaston
Accountability
You will work under the joint direction and supervision of Reverend Lynnette Mullings (National Leadership/Ministry Development Officer) and Reverend Julian Francis (National Training Facilitator and Coordinator). All staff work under the general direction of and are accountable to the Foundation Principal.
Terms and conditions
The post is remunerated at an hourly rate of £8 - £10 depending on qualifications and experience. The post is offered on a fixed term contract until July 2011 which is when initial funding for the Centre expires.
Key tasks and responsibilities
The post holder will be required to perform the following tasks and duties:
- Be the first point of contact for enquiries via telephone, email and in person, open and process incoming mail
- Be responsible for all administration for CBML events (taster events, open days, consultations, conferences etc.) e.g. invitations, publicity, bookings, attendance, reviews and follow up
- Prepare a range of letters, documents and publicity
- Be responsible for compiling and updating databases, generating mailings using mail merge software
- General office management ensuring the smooth running of the office, including financial record keeping
- Minute taking of meetings
- Keeping and monitoring the CBML diary
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks as they arise
There will be opportunity at interview to explore some additional hours of work of a similar kind for another member of the Foundation staff.
