Dr Mukti Barton appointed lay canon

Dr Mukti Barton, Queen’s tutor in in Black and Asian Theology and Bible and Liberation, has been appointed by the Bishop of Birmingham to be a lay canon of St Phillip’s Cathedral.  She was installed at a service on Sunday March 11th, in recognition of her contribution to the Diocese and her scholarship.

Queen’s tutor to give Michael Vasey Memorial Lecture

Mark Earey, tutor in liturgy and worship at the Queen’s Foundation is giving this year’s Michael Vasey lecture in Durham at 7.30pm on Wednesday 7th March, on the subject ‘Beyond Common Worship: Thinking the Unthinkable’.
Michael Vasey was for many years tutor in liturgy at Cranmer Hall, St John’s College, Durham and a member of the Church of England Liturgical Commission. The annual lecture in his memory takes place at St John’s College, Durham. For more information go to www.dur.ac.uk/st-johns.college

Theological Reading Group

Revs up for Robin Hood Tax

On Friday 2nd December Robin Hood led a band of merry trainee vicars and their tutors from the leafy glades of the Queen’s Foundation in Edgbaston to Birmingham’s commercial centre to sing their support for the so-called Robin Hood tax.
