Vigil Against the Arms Trade
August 24th 2011
A vigil will take place in the chapel of the Queen’s Foundation on Monday 12th September for one hour commencing 7pm. This is timed to coincide with a similar vigil taking place outside the ExCel Conference and Exhibition Centre in East London which will host the Defence and Security International Arms Fair which will commence the following day.
This is one of the largest arms fairs in the world. Everything will be on sale from tear gas canisters to military aircraft. The UK is one of the largest exporters of arms in the world and has supplied arms to many of the dictatorial regimes of the world. The Queen’s vigil is open to all, whether students of the Foundation or anyone who wants to share in a Christian witness for peace and justice.
Enquiries to Professor John Hull (j.hull@queens.ac.uk). The vigil will be lead by ministerial students of the Foundation.
