Weekday learning - college style
Four pathways are offered to equip you for ordained ministry, depending on the length of training you have been offered and the prior learning that you bring. The four pathways are:
Foundations For Christian Ministry
A two year programme that provides the basic understanding and skills for serving as an assistant minister, as a Methodist Probationer or Anglican Curate. Completion of this pathway leads to the award of a Diploma in Applied Theological Studies. Those who bring significant prior learning, and who have specific theological skills and understanding at level 1, can enter this pathway at level 2, in which case completion of the pathway leads to the award of the BA in Applied Theological Studies. This pathway can also be undertaken part-time over three years.
Foundations for Leadership in a Mission Shaped Church
This pathway is designed for three year full-time candidates. The first two years of the pathway lays the Foundations for ministry, with the third year focusing on strategic considerations of mission, leadership and the skills needed for future posts of responsibility. It is particularly useful for those who expect in the future to take positions of responsibility in Circuit or Parish ministry. Completion of this pathway leads to the award of the BA in Applied Theological Studies.
Leadership for Mission and Ministry in the Church
This MA pathway is designed for students with a prior degree in Theology or a closely related discipline, or with postgraduate qualifications and substantial evidence of prior theological learning. The pathway prepares candidates for ordination or stationing by engagement and reflection on practices and understandings of mission and ministry that equips leaders to be creative, pioneers, practitioners and reflectors. Completion of the pathway leads to the award of the MA in Applied Theological Studies.
Mixed mode pathway for pioneer ministers
This pathway brings together two new developments in theological education and ministerial formation - pioneer ministry and mixed mode training.
