Peter Kevern is the Director of Studies at the Queen’s Foundation, with overall responsibility for the quality and organisation of its academic programmes. He also teaches and coordinates the modules Introduction to Christian Theology; Person of Jesus; and God Through Human Eyes.

Peter is a Roman Catholic lay theologian who has lengthy experience of life as a Franciscan Brother (14 years) and a missionary in Papua New Guinea (6 years). He holds degrees in Biological Sciences (UEA, 1980) and Divinity (Birmingham, 1996), and gained his PhD for a thesis on the subject, Unity, Diversity and Trinity in the Rhetoric of the 1988 Lambeth Conference (Birmingham 1999). He is currently researching the theological themes generated by the experience of caring for those with dementia. He also has a lifelong interest in esoteric and ascetical spirituality. His most recent publications are “Alzheimer’s and the Dementia of God”, accepted for publication in International Journal of Public Theology (publication expected 7/09); “The Grace of Foolishness: what dementing Christians can bring to the churches”, accepted for publication in Practical Theology (publication expected 8/09); and “Sharing the Mind of Christ: preliminary thoughts on dementia and the cross” accepted for publication in New Blackfriars (publication date not yet known)

Despite these declared interests, Peter’s most substantial publication is Exploring New Testament Greek — a Way In (London: SCM 2004), co-authored with Paula Gooder. As he puts it, ‘This is a book that was written almost by accident: I do not wish to be considered a Greek scholar!’.
