Why study at Queens
Training for local churches

Are you involved in the leadership of a church in the West Midlands region? Do you want to enhance your theological and ministerial skills so that you might better equip others for mission? Do you want to learn with, and from, ministers and leaders of churches from other denominations? Or are you involved in the life of your local church, and are seeking to explore where, or to what, God is calling you?

Begin the journey of exploration

You may never have done any theological study before and wish to begin the journey of exploration.  Or you may be an experienced minister, wanting to improve your pastoral or leadership skills. Queen’s works collaboratively with a number of denominations, and we have a variety of students “sent” by their churches for theological and ministerial training.

Black Ministries and Leadership is a particular focus at Queen’s and we have a number of students from local Pentecostal churches, particularly the Church of God of Prophecy. We also have developing relationships with the Wesleyan Holiness Church and the New Testament Church of God. But whatever your local church affiliation, studying at Queen’s gives you the opportunity to deepen your theological awareness and cultivate skills in mission and ministry.

What can I do?

If you’ve already completed a reasonable amount of theological study, then the MA pathway in professional development may be for you. This programme focuses on innovative approaches to ministry, acquiring strategic leadership skills to develop and implement vision of the church, and helps ministers and pastors to reflect theologically on their existing ministerial practices and work.

Alternatively, you might want to consider some more foundational theological study, and take modules at Certificate, Diploma or Degree level.  Some students study part-time using a pattern of learning that focuses on weekends and evening classes, whilst others train part-time or full-time in a pattern of learning that focuses on weekday study.
