The Queen’s Foundation is delighted to introduce two new members of staff who have joined the teaching and learning community and who are also joining the Church of England family in the West Midlands. Their appointment further strengthens the college’s mission to train ministers for the Church of today in a diverse, challenging and gospel-focused environment.
Revd Pat Lenton de Dickin Appointed Anglican Tutor for Admissions and Context-based Pathways
Revd Pat Lenton de Dickin has recently been serving as Team Vicar in the Parish of South Gillingham in the Diocese of Rochester, and brings a wealth of pastoral and theological experience. Her ministry has spanned a parish of four churches and five schools, and she has been actively involved in theological education, teaching at St Augustine’s College and contributing to Continuing Ministerial Development within the diocese.
Pat has a particular passion for Liberation Theologies, social justice, peace and reconciliation, and has written on moral courage in leadership. Originally from Argentina, her international background includes work with the World Council of Churches and brings a valuable global perspective to her new role.
Pat is beginning her new position as Queen’s Anglican Tutor for Admissions and Context-based Pathways this August.
About her new appointment, Pat says, “I am honoured to have been invited to join the Queen’s community, to contribute to training people for God’s mission and service to the church. God has led me on many unexpected paths and travelled with me through wonderful adventures; I look forward to walking faithfully under the Spirit in this new chapter at Queens”.
Revd Angela Sheard Returns to Queen’s as Anglican Tutor
Revd Angela Sheard, a former Queen’s student, has taken up the role as Anglican tutor at her former training institution after completing her curacy at St Martin’s in the Fields, Diocese of London.
Angela’s new role is supported by Queens’ Racial Justice Empowerment project, funded by the Church of England to develop Theological Educators of UKME/GMH heritage. Angela’s time will be divided between her teaching and tutorial responsibilities in the area of Ministerial Formation and her own research. Angela arrived with us just after Easter and is already blessing us with all that she brings.
Angela shared her enthusiasm at returning to Queen’s:
“I trained for ordained ministry here at Queen’s, and found it a truly enriching, challenging and inspiring environment during this time of formation. I’m excited to be returning to Queen’s as an Anglican Tutor, working across the Ministerial Formation and Research and Global Partnerships centres of the Foundation. I look forward to working with both those training for Anglican and Methodist ordained ministry and independent students as we listen together for God’s call upon our lives and open ourselves up to the grace of the Holy Spirit, trusting that God will shape us into the people we are each called to become. At Queen’s we seek to celebrate our diversity, welcome the challenges of ministry and mission in our present age, and be guided by the Gospels in all that we do.”
