We are delighted to share the news of two new appointments for the Queen’s Foundation.
The Rev’d Dr Catrin Harland-Davies is being appointed to the role of Director of Methodist Formation subject to confirmation of stationing by the Methodist Conference.
Catrin serves currently as Director of the Centre for Continuing Ministerial Development and is part of the Ministerial Formation team of Methodist Oversight Tutors. She has been serving as a member of the Foundation’s Leadership Team and will continue to do so in her new role. She has been responsible for developing and enhancing both accredited and non-accredited programmes for ministerial development, which has included overseeing Methodist Probationer studies, alongside programmes for Anglican curates and those of all denominations seeking to deepen their theology and practice in a range of ministries, lay and ordained. As Director of Studies for Methodist ministerial formation students, she has been part of the Academic Planning Group and has taught at a variety of levels in particular in biblical studies.
Alongside all she will bring from her experience of teaching and formation work at Queen’s, Catrin has served in Higher Education Chaplaincy as part of the ecumenical teams at Sheffield University and Sheffield Hallam, and as a presbyter in circuit ministry as part of the Sheffield Methodist Circuit, and previously the Dorking and Horsham Circuit. In the wider Methodist Church, she has been a member of the Methodist Conference and various connexional committees and working groups, including the Faith and Order Committee.
About her appointment Catrin said “I’m honoured and humbled to have been appointed to this role, and for the trust being placed in me. I’m very excited about this new chapter of my time at Queen’s, and I look forward to continuing to work with some amazing students and colleagues, building on relationships that I’ve been privileged to form already, but with new responsibilities and opportunities.”
Catrin will take up this new appointment within Queen’s for the start of the new academic year 2025. Together with her we look forward to all that this new season will hold.
The Rev’d Dr George Bailey is being appointed to the role of Methodist Oversight Tutor subject to confirmation of stationing by the Methodist Conference.
George is currently Lecturer in Mission and Wesleyan Studies at Cliff College and Co-Superintendent of Leeds North and East Circuit. A former primary school teacher and Assistant Manager of a hostel with the Probation Service, George brings broad experience as a Methodist Presbyteral Minister. He has been a District Ecumenical Officer and has ministered within several Local Ecumenical Partnership churches, including a large Methodist-Anglican church. He has taught on Methodist and Wesleyan Identity and theology, spirituality, mission, and church history, as well as supervising postgraduate research. He has been a member of the Faith and Order Committee of the Methodist Church, is British Co-Chair of the Oxford Institute of Methodist Theological Studies, and serves the Methodist Church in several other roles.
About his appointment George said, ‘I am very much looking forward to being involved in the exciting work of the Queen’s Foundation, equipping people for ministry and mission, and working together to explore and develop Christian theology for our contemporary world.’
George will take up his appointment for the start of the new academic year 2025. We look forward greatly to welcoming him.
