Rev’d Patricia Margarita Lenton de Dickin

I began at Queens in August 2025. I was ordained in the Diocese of Guildford in 2008 and have been in Parish ministry since then, serving my Curacy in the Diocese of Guildford, followed by an incumbent status role in semi-rural multi-parish benefice in Kent, and then a team ministry role in a 4 church Parish in the Medway Towns.
I am latinamerican and have lived the majority of my life in Argentina where I was very active in the Anglican Church of Argentina. My childhood and young adult Christian life, and my initial theological education, were in the context of a minority church and heavily strengthened by ecumenical relationships and friendships (which I continue to this day). As part of this ecumenical relationship I worked with the LatinAmerican Council of Churches (CLAI) and was co-founder of the ecumenical youth group in Córdoba and founded a model which was rolled out at a national level. Through the Ecumenical Centre in Córdoba I worked with a centre supporting women & children escaping domestic Violence, and worked closely doing simultaneous translation for a delegation from the World Council of Churches that focused on the work of churches in the area of domestic abuse.
I spent a year in the USA living in Georgia as part of a university program for building peace and understanding across the world, a program that marked my outlook on international relations and through which I have friends living in some of the most troubled parts of the world today. I was selected by the World Council of Churches to represent Latin America in two courses training for emerging young leaders from all over the world (in Canada), and for young women leaders (in Ghana) looking at the ecumenical work to transform impoverished communities. This was living out the prayer of Jesus that is at the heart of ecumenical cooperation and joint witness: “that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me” (Jn 17.21)
These experiences, together with a lived ecclesiology and theology firmly rooted in Latin American Liberation Theology, cemented in me an interest in the role of faith communities in peacebuilding and reconciliation, and particularly the role of the Anglican Church in holding the middle ground in dialogue.
Completing my second MA in Reconciliation and Peacebuilding with the university of Winchester, with a focus on the role of faith communities, sparked a question in my intellectual curiosity regarding moral courage, and its place in Church leadership that enables change and peacebuilding. Having done some initial research and published a short introductory Grove Booklet, I hope to be pursuing this research in more depth through a PhD.

Role at Queen’s

I am the Tutor for Anglican Admissions and Context Based Training. In 2025-26 I am co-teaching with my Methodist Colleague the module for our final year students on Denominational Identity.

External roles and responsibilities

I am a member of AMEN (Anglican Minority Ethnic Network) and ANIC (Anglican Network of Intercultural Churches).
I am the new editor (from Sept 2025) of the newsletter for APJN (Anglican Peace and Justice Network)

Research interests

I am interested in Moral Courage as a necessary precursor for change leading to peace. I am interested in Reconciliation and Peacebuilding and the role of faith communities.
I am interested in the Anglican Community and the breadth of ministry and theology present, and specially of liberation theologies (with a special part of my heart & brain for Latin American Liberation Theology). As a result I am interested in the role of the Christian church and Scripture teaching on Social justice, environmental justice, and minority representation in the Church of England.
