SummaryThrough a combination of teaching, placement work and enquiry-based learning, the Post Graduate Diploma in Theology and Transformative Practice programme seeks to: enable students to gain high level skills as reflective practitioners who are self-critical, who can deal with complex issues both systematically and creatively and who can make sound judgements; acquire in depth knowledge and understanding of a specific field of Christian theology and practice which is informed by current scholarship and research; develop their capacity for self-direction and originality in tackling and solving problems, and act autonomously in planning and implementing tasks at a professional or equivalent level; gain a conceptual understanding that enables the student to evaluate critically current research and advanced scholarship in the discipline or field, to evaluate methodologies and develop critiques of them and, where appropriate, to propose new hypotheses; make an independent contribution to knowledge within a discipline or chosen field of professional practice.
