Beyond Inclusion: Power, Cost and the Future of Theological Education
Theological education shapes the life of the Church, yet participation within it is not experienced equally. For many GMH/UKME students and scholars, barriers to belonging and flourishing remain significant. While there is growing awareness that racism permeates all aspects of life, the work of addressing it also carries a real cost. Those engaged in racial justice within theological education often find themselves navigating fatigue and inertia. This conference explores how we move from recognition to meaningful change.
Drawing on the research of postdoctoral fellow Dr Mabel Alkali, alongside contributions from Dr Olabisi Obamakin, Dr Nina Kurlberg, and leading scholars including Dr Eve Parker, Dr Selina Stone, and Dr Anupama Ranawana, the event will create space for critical reflection, shared learning, and renewed commitment to anti-racist theological education.
