Illustrative pathways – Methodists

These ‘illustrative pathways’ combine the expectations of the Academic programme with requirements of the Methodist Church for those training for ordained ministry. They should give you an idea of the broad shape of the kinds of pathways on offer at Queen’s:

Illustrative pathway – two years (Track 1)
This is a two-year full-time pathway which is designed for a ministerial candidate with little or no prior theological learning. Successful completion of this pathway leads to the Diploma of Higher Education in Theology, Ministry and Mission validated by Durham University as part of the Common Awards. Please note that programmes can differ from year to year, and some modifications are sometimes possible in relation to individual programmes.

Illustrative pathway – MA (Track 1)
For those with the required qualifications, the MA in Theology, Ministry and Mission is available. The MA modules are normally covered over two years and are supplemented by formational modules to meet the requirements of the Methodist Church for those training for ordained ministry.

Successful completion of this pathway leads to the Master of Arts in Theology, Ministry and Mission validated by Durham University as part of the Common Awards. Please note that programmes can differ from year to year, and some modifications are some times possible in relation to individual programmes.

Illustrative pathway – PhD
For those with the required prior qualifications, and with the agreement of the sponsoring church, doctoral studies can be taken as part of the ordination training. The PhD pathway combines the expectations of the Academic programme with requirements of the sponsoring church for those training for ordained ministry.
