How we answer the question What does it mean to be Children of God? significantly shapes how we understand and practise our faith. It is an important question to consider, but not a straightforward one to answer! It has been reflected on and responded to in many ways, at different times, by communities and thinkers throughout Christian history, all drawing inspiration from the Bible, church traditions, Christian ideas and practices, and even broader social and cultural influences.

You might have your own immediate thoughts, but do you know where they come from or what they’re based on? Do you know how they are shaping you? Maybe your own faith understanding and practice would benefit from discovering more about what it means to be God’s children alongside others?

Theological anthropology – what does it mean to be human?
Soteriology – what does it mean to be ‘saved’ / how does salvation come about?
Ecclesiology – how do different church traditions understand our connection to God
Biblical Theology – what does the Bible say about being and becoming Children of God?
Church history – who were Irenaeus of Lyon, Isaac of Syria and Anselm of Canterbury and what did they say about our relationship with God?
Christology – what can we learn from Jesus about what it means to be a child of God?
Epistemology – how do the words we use to describe our relationship with God shape our beliefs?
Hymnology – how do the songs we sing inform our understanding of being Children of God

… and what are we to make of things like sin, wrath, salvation, the cross, theosis, bodies and souls, ancient biographies and sloppy wet kisses?

How to Register?

The first step is to complete a registration form. Payment of £60 for the course will be taken at the point of registration.

Upon receipt of your form and fee, you will receive a student profile form to complete. This asks for a little more information about you and your reasons for joining Twelve:2.

You will then receive two further emails: A welcome email from your link tutor who will be there to offer support as you engage with the course, and an enrolment email giving you access to our Twelve:2 learning platform where the course is hosted.

Your access to the course and Twelve:2 will last from the day you receive your enrolment email.
